2013 Gold Award

Received from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York for Engineering Excellence for the Seneca Street Streetscape, Buffalo, NY.

2013   Inamori Kyocera Museum of Fine Ceramics, New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University

Wendel was commissioned to design a fine ceramics museum to celebrate the history of ceramics and their use in modern technology. Completed in 2011, the project received several awards including the 2011 1st Place honor Award – AIA Buffalo Western NY Design Awards; 2012 Silver Award, ACEC NY Engineering Excellence Awards; 2013 Illumination Awards of Merit 2013, IESNA International Illumination Design Awards for Interior Lighting Design, Energy and Environmental Lighting Design and Lighting Controls Design.

Received from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York for Engineering Excellence for the Amherst Main Sewage Pump Drive Replacement, Amherst, NY.

Received from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York for Engineering Excellence for the Historic Fort Niagara Electrical Improvements, Youngstown, NY.

Received from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York for Engineering Excellence for the  Seneca Niagara Casino Sign, Niagara Falls, NY.

2012 Illumination Award of Merit, IESNA International Illumination Design Awards

Given to the University at Buffalo Alumni Arena for Lighting Design and Lighting Control Design.

2012 Downtown Improvement District Design Award for Design and Technology

Completed in September 2012, the innovative Fort Wayne Transportation Center (Citilink), Fort Wayne, IN was recognized for its impact on the downtown area.

2012   Business First 40 Under 40

Business First, Buffalo, NY, recently honored Aliesa Adelman LEED AP BD+C, Sustainable Design Coordinator for Wendel, for her contribution to the community and industry.

2011 Mass Transit 40 Under 40 Recipient - Sean Beachy

2010 VTA Distinguished Service Award - Chip Badger

Charles “Chip” Badger has devoted his entire 37-year career to multimodal transportation and has been instrumental in advancing transit across Virginia. Until January when he joined Wendel as Project Director in the Public Transit Group. Chip was a lynchpin in the operations of DRPT—a source of stability, institutional knowledge and encouragement to Virginia transit providers.

Over his career at DRPT (culminating in Agency Director), he was instrumental in advancing the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. Chip also assisted with the development and financial planning for the Virginia Railway Express, Northern Virginia's commuter rail system; The Tide, Hampton Roads Transit's light rail; the establishment of over 30 new transit systems; and Virginia’s first state sponsored intercity passenger rail service.

2010 Water & Wastes Digest Top Projects Winner

Awarded by this leading industry magazine for the emergency water system recovery project enacted to provide safe drinking water and necessary fire flows to the Village of Gowanda after a devastating flood put the village water supply out of operation.

2010 Merit Award of Excellence

New York State Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects Merit Award for the Artpark Amphitheater Master Plan, Lewiston, NY.
