Project Objective

The first world-class gaming and entertainment facility in Buffalo, NY, is underway. Wendel Duchscherer was retained as the structural engineer and civil engineer on this $300,000,000 million, phased project led by the Seneca Gaming Corporation and SOSH Architects. The Seneca Nation of Indians required that a temporary casino be built while the project for the permanent casino is in progress; the former was opened to the public in 2007 while latter is planned for completion in 2009.

 

Solution

Prior to the current Schematic Design Phase, Wendel Duchscherer, on behalf of the Seneca Gaming Corporation, served as the prime consultant leading the following initiatives:

- Environmental Assessments (NEPA and SEQRA) for the acquisition of the
  proposed nine acre parcel and the former Fulton Street Right of Way.

- Geotechnical and environmental site investigations.

- Existing building and utility demolition and environmental remediation design.

- Boundary, topographic and utility surveys.

- Traffic studies and utility impact reports.

- Conceptual site and ROW improvement plan preparation and facilitation of the
  permitting and approval process with the City of Buffalo.

 

Temporary Casino

- 1-story, 8,000 sq. ft. temporary casino

 

Permanent Casino

- 3-story, 220,000 sq. ft. casino with 2,300 gaming
  positions

- 8-story, 2,500 parking structure

- 25-story, 220 all suite hotel

- Roadway and infrastructure improvements
  surrounding the project area.
