The architectural staff have not only designed, detailed, renovated spaces, but also physically built both installations and the space around them.
In the Buffalo Office, workstations were designed and fabricated to replace the traditional cubicles previously used. Walls were taken down and replaced with mobile units to facilitate communication and collaboration. Because the new system can be reconfigured at will, individuals can adapt their seating arrangements according to daily needs and project team configurations. The front reception desk was also designed and built in-house. The Team in DC designed the entrance seating and display area. Their reconfigured workstations included an open studio environment with ample space for charrette and pin-up areas. For the Kyocera Ceramics Museum project, full scale mockups of the proposed display panels were fabricated off-site for the design team to study scale, constructability of materials, and lighting.
