Unbuilt Work

For numerous reasons, we do not always have the luxury of seeing our ideas to fruition.  Design proposals become tools of exploratory learning, creative and innovative thinking, and trials in 2d and 3d graphic representations.

Transurban Group Hot Lanes Operations Center

The technical proposal and conceptual design for the Transurban Group was based on the following key points:

  • Transurban’s corporate mission to use sustainable materials and construction methods
  • Issues unique to data and operational center facilities
  • Branding / Corporate Image
  • Energy efficient designs
  • A Phased construction and occupancy approach

Troy Intermodal

The team proposed a new intermodal transit facility along the existing elevated Amtrak route between the border of the City of Troy and the City of Birmingham.  A pedestrian bridge was not possible due to overhead high-voltage power lines; the design solution formed a pedestrian tunnel under the railroad tracks with a ramp at each end.    A sunken landscaped park with accessible ramps was added to each side of the tracks to create an un-obscured line of sight to and from the tunnel.

Buffalo Public School #53

As part of the Phase V of the Buffalo Public Schools Reconstruction Project, the design team submitted ideas for a classroom and library addition to a PreK-8th Grade school on the City’s Upper East Side.  The location of the addition enclosed an existing courtyard creating a secure space for learning and play.  Simple mathematical equations created a patterned façade that reflects the schools identity.
