Highway and Bridge Engineering
Drawing on more than 70 years of experience, Wendel plans, designs and manages construction of tomorrow’s streets and highways. Wendel provides a full range of services to help transportation agencies advance the financial, technical and contextual opportunities to deliver streets, highways and bridges fulfilling the economic, social and environmental needs of the communities they serve.
We can be involved in every aspect of a highway and bridge program including transportation planning, traffic analysis, urban design, environmental impact studies and statements, funding and feasibility analysis, preliminary engineering and final design, construction planning, and public communications and involvement.
We have deep roots in highway planning and design. Our founders, Leon Wendel and Phillip Duchscherer, designed the Ontario Section of the New York State Thruway. Wendel continues to rebuild our expressways
such as the recent NY Route 17 upgrade to I-86 that enhanced regional access to New York’s southern tier. As demonstrated by the James Street Road Diet Project, Wendel was at the forefront of Complete Streets advancing the idea that our streets could be more than functional; they could contribute to the livability, economic vitality and sustainability of our communities.
